Mindful Sketching

Sunday, November 4th, 2018 - 10:00am-4:00pm. Deborah's Studio;
Durango, CO

If you have ever found yourself saying, "I can't draw" or "I'm not creative" know that you can! As your advocate and founder of Creative Nature™Coaching, I believe we are all born with natural capacities to create and we all have creative potential of which we are unaware. This workshop provides a non-judgmental, supportive atmosphere of exploration in sketching. Through mindful inspired exercises such as; focused observation, calm attention, addressing thoughtful questions and exercising self-compassion, you will embrace your creative nature! As an outdoors, nature-based workshop, the beauty and solitude of Turtle Lake Valley provides a perfect environment for creative exploration.

The cost is $90 plus a $25 materials fee (this includes a hard bound multi-media sketch book and a special assortment of drawing utensils).  SPECIAL!!  Prepay by October 24th and receive the “new client offer” of $85 (tuition and materials included). Note; If anyone has to cancel, I do not issue refunds, rather the amount can be used towards another workshop within a one-year period. 

Bring a bag lunch and beverage. The artist will provide a special snack-treat!  Washroom facilities, Wi-Fi and drinking water are available at the artist’s studio. Weather permitting, we will primarily work outdoors amidst the natural beauty of the Turtle Lake Valley just 4 miles outside Durango.  Bring appropriate clothing.

 

Unglue Your Mind, Stick To Your Art; How To Ignite Your Creativity

April 26th-28th, 2019 - 10:00am-4:00pm (daily). Sorrel Sky Gallery; Durango, CO

Do you know how when your creative efforts get derailed or comes to a halt and it can be very challenging to reignite your creative passion. I am the founder of Creative Nature™Coaching and as a creativity coach, mindfulness teacher and professional artist/photographer, I help creative people trouble shoot those challenges and get back to doing what they really want to do and that is to create! Through art-making exercises and conversation, we address questions that will allow you to ignite your creative nature! How do I prioritize my art? (when life demands so much of my time and energy) How can I bravely address my inner critic? What are some new ways to deal with old problems and issues of resistance like procrastination or perfectionism? How do I stay focused and motivated with creative projects over time? What do I do with my fear of failure; like when I feel intimidated by the blank page? How can I understand the creative process so I can just get some of my creative dreams in motion? Open to all levels of ability (from amateur to professional) this workshop is for anyone who values their creative life and has artistic dreams that you can’t wait to pursue. Each Participant will be given a hardbound, multi-media sketch book with a special assortment of drawing utensils as a portfolio for their thoughts, drawings, sketches and collages. Activities will be conducted both indoors and outdoors in beautiful Durango, CO.

The cost for this 3-day workshop is $350 plus a $30 materials fee (this includes a hard bound multi-media sketch book and a special assortment of drawing utensils).  Minimum, of 6 and maximum of 12 participants.

Sorrel Sky Gallery is located in downtown Durango, CO.  Numerous options for lunch spots are available as well as the option for BYO bag lunch. Activities will be conducted both indoors and outdoors (weather permitting).

Slow Down and See - Photography

Saturday, March 9th, 2019 - 10:00am-4:00pm. Deborah's Studio;
Durango, CO

Artist & photographer Deborah Sussex will help participants, of all skill levels, explore a contemplative approach to creating images. A series of exercises will be offered to engage the senses, analyze light and consider the issues of a well-conceived photographic composition. Bring a bag lunch and a beverage. The artist will provide a special snack-treat! The cost is $90 Digital images will be loaded onto a computer for sharing and group reflection. Items to bring; your digital camera with removable flash card, notebook, pen and clothing/items for being outdoors. This workshop provides a non-judgmental, supportive atmosphere of exploration in photographic composition.

The cost is $90 (no materials fee)

Participants must bring their own camera with a memory card. Bring a bag lunch and beverage. The artist will provide a special snack-treat! Washroom facilities, Wi-Fi and drinking water are available at the Mancos Library. We will meet in the naturally lit conference room as well as work outdoors amidst the natural beauty and charm of Mancos. Bring appropriate clothing.
