Mindful Sketching

Sunday, November 4th, 2018 - 10:00am-4:00pm. Deborah's Studio;
Durango, CO

If you have ever found yourself saying, "I can't draw" or "I'm not creative" know that you can! As your advocate and founder of Creative Nature™Coaching, I believe we are all born with natural capacities to create and we all have creative potential of which we are unaware. This workshop provides a non-judgmental, supportive atmosphere of exploration in sketching. Through mindful inspired exercises such as; focused observation, calm attention, addressing thoughtful questions and exercising self-compassion, you will embrace your creative nature! As an outdoors, nature-based workshop, the beauty and solitude of Turtle Lake Valley provides a perfect environment for creative exploration.

The cost is $90 plus a $25 materials fee (this includes a hard bound multi-media sketch book and a special assortment of drawing utensils).  SPECIAL!!  Prepay no later than one week before the workshop (June 10th) and receive the “new client offer” of $85 (tuition and materials included). Note; If anyone has to cancel, I do not issue refunds, rather the amount can be used towards another workshop within a one-year period. 

Bring a bag lunch and beverage. The artist will provide a special snack-treat!  Washroom facilities, Wi-Fi and drinking water are available at the artist’s studio. Weather permitting, we will primarily work outdoors amidst the natural beauty of the Turtle Lake Valley just 4 miles outside Durango.  Bring appropriate clothing.

 

Unglue Your Mind, Stick To Your Art; Five Keys to Increased Creativity

Do you know how when your creative efforts get derailed or comes to a halt and it can be very frustrating. I am the founder of Creative Nature™Coaching and as a creativity coach, I help artists trouble shoot those challenges and get back to doing what they really want to do and that is to create! Through conversation and art-making exercises, we address five issues and a “key” to open the door to new ways of thinking. Each Participant will be given a unique drawing book as a portfolio for their thoughts, notes, drawings, sketches and collages. Expect to ignite your creative nature! We will address issues of: Overcoming creative blocks. Understanding the creative process and making progress How to prioritize art; when life demands so much of my time and energy Finding new ways to deal with old problems and issues of resistance like procrastination or perfectionism. Bravely addressing issues of anxiety, fear and the inner critic. Pastel Painting; Discover Your Artistic Spirit at Ghost Ranch, NM

Sunday, May 20th, 2018 - Ghost Ranch, New Mexico

Explore the art of painting with pastels through short demonstrations, emphasizing particular principles and guided exercises. Students will join discussions about materials, color use, generating sketches, and how to compose a painting. This workshop is open to artists of all levels. Come learn the elements necessary to see your artist’s mind flourish!

The cost ranges from $600 – $1,475 depending on your lodging option at, or near, Ghost Ranch (contact GR directly for lodging prices).  NO materials fee.  The artist will provide some specialty papers for sale.

We will base out of a large, naturally lit room.  Participants have the option to work/paint outdoors amidst the beauty of Ghost Ranch.

Slow Down and See - Photography

May 20th, 2018 - 10:00am-4:00pm Mancos Public Library

Artist & photographer Deborah Sussex will help participants, of all skill levels, explore a contemplative approach to creating images. A series of exercises will be offered to engage the senses, analyze light and consider the issues of a well-conceived photographic composition. Bring a bag lunch and a beverage. The artist will provide a special snack-treat! The cost is $80 plus a $25 materials fee (this includes a hard bound multi-media sketch book and a special assortment of drawing utensils). Digital images will be loaded onto a computer for sharing and group reflection. Items to bring; your digital camera with removable flash card, notebook, pen and clothing/items for being outdoors. This workshop provides a non-judgmental, supportive atmosphere of exploration in photographic composition.

The cost is $90 (no materials fee)

We will meet in the naturally lit conference room as well as work outdoors amidst the natural beauty and charm of Mancos. Bring appropriate clothing.
